WENATCHEE — Mission Ridge Ski Team athlete James Wiggs captured the Stemilt Apple Invite overall boys trophy during the Jan. 21-22 event at the ski resort.
Claire Wallace of the Loup Loup ski area near Twisp won the overall girls trophy over two days of skiing.
In the J-7 division, Mission Ridge's Owen Platt took first and second, respectively, in two giant slalom races. And in the J-6 girls race on Sunday, Hadley Platt came in second.
Wiggs won the overall title by taking first place in the J-4 classification in Saturday's giant slalom and fourth place in Sunday's giant slalom.
Meanwhile, MRST athletes Haille Johnson (fourth place) and Shae Milne (eighth place) had good showings in Saturday's girls J-4 giant slalom; Calvin Hanson finished eighth in Saturday's boys J-5 race; Sophie Black had ninth and 10th-place finishes in the girls J-5 races; Jake Snitily finished ninth on both days in J-6; Isabella Taylor was ninth in Saturday's J-6 race.
"Our YSL team is super young with only six of our 21 athletes having raced before this year," said Mission Ridge coach Alex Shorter. "I was very pleased with how well they all did."
