
BOZEMAN, Mont. — Mission Ridge Ski Team's Gracie Struthers finished 36th and Cole Paton came in 61st on Friday in the girls and boys super-G races, respectively, as the three-day Western Region J3 Junior Championships got underway.
Another Mission Ridge athlete, Delilah Cupp, who came into Friday's super-G ranked No. 8 in the event, failed to finish her run.
The Junior Championships bring together the best J3 skiers (13- and 14-year-olds) from the West. The three Mission Ridge athletes are representing the Pacific Northwest Ski Association at the event.
Luke Winters of Mount Hood, Ore., captured Friday's boys race in 1:06.29. Paton finished in 1:14.38.
The girls race was won by Stephanie Lebby of Big Bear Lake, Calif., in 1:08.58. Struthers clocked a 1:13.95 in her run.
The J3 Junior Championships continue Saturday with giant slalom races at Bridger Bowl.
